BS EN 12165 1998 CW 112C

Key Features

A copper alloy containing nickel and silicon, that can be strengthened by heat treatment. Material solution heat treated at high temperature, has a soft supersaturated alpha-phase structure, and subsequent precipitation hardening at lower temperature precipitates finely dispersed nickel silicide in the matrix.

In this condition, the alloy exhibits high strength and hardness, combined with good wear resistance and conductivity. Cold working can further improve strength and hardness. The alloy has a good corrosion resistance in a variety of environments.

The most commonly used wrought forms are sheet, strip, rod and forgings.

Typical Uses

A high copper alloy with extremely good electrical and heat conductivity that is strengthened by heat treatment and cold work.

Has good corrosion resistance and ductility and is used mainly for fasteners. In the electrical industry it is used for switch gear and circuit breakers.
