A copper zinc alloy with a small addition of tin to aid corrosion resistance. The alloy is a single alpha phase and has good ductility.
This naval brass was originally used in marine applications and has good corrosion resistance in moderately polluted river water and clean sea water. The alloy is widely used in heat exchange equipment with moderate operating conditions.

A lead free naval brass which is basically a 60/40 copper zinc alloy with the addition of 1% Sn for corrosion resistance in sea water. The alloy meets the requirements of ASTM B 21 C46400 Alloy A , ASTM B 124 C46400, AMS 4611, AMS 4612 and QQ-B-639. This alloy is also noted for its resistance to wear, fatigue, galling, and stress corrosion cracking.
