Specialist applications requiring the ability to withstand dynamic stresses and extreme environmental corrosion are most suitable for Def Stan 02-835 to be used. Much more cost effective than some of the highly processed nickel-based alloys, it is a low cost alternative material option that will last well in aggressive environments.
Marine Defence
Weapons handling equipment, sump block, high pressure marine actuation systems,
components in sonar devices, hose couplings, gears, mechanical seals and washers,
actuators, winch components, pump and propeller shafts.
Petrochemical
Subsea fasteners and bolting, shafts for pumps and valves, valve spindles, hydraulic pistons and cylinders, sub sea connectors. Process control equipment.

High Strength Cupro Nickel
CuNi15Mn4Al1Fe
Elite Alloy CAL T-850
A naturally anti bio-fouling UK Defence Standard High Strength Cupro Nickel which has unique excellent corrosion resistance with general corrosion rates of <0.025mm/year, does not suffer from hydrogen embrittlement, has excellent anti-galling properties, has good resistance to erosion corrosion and is almost insensitive to stress corrosion.
Def Stan 02-835 retains its strength well at moderately elevated temperatures, has good hot-working properties and is readily weldable. Def Stan 02-835 can also be used in cryogenic applications down to -196ºc with no loss in impact strength. The most commonly used wrought forms are individual forgings, and long products such as rod and bar.
This wrought high strength cupro nickel alloy has a higher tensile strength and impact strength than nickel aluminium bronze and has a proven track record having been incorporated in to various submarine build programs for many decades. It is galvanically compatible with other copper alloys and stainless steel. Def Stan 02-835 is also being used for wider applications in a variety of industries around the world, predominantly within commercial marine and petrochemical industries, which benefit from the attractive blend of physical and mechanical properties.
