A nickel-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum and niobium which greatly enhance the properties of the face-centred cubic structure.
The alloy has outstanding resistance to all types of sea water corrosion including pitting, crevice and impingement. It also has resistance to corrosion by mineral acids such as nitric, phosphorus, hydrochloric and sulphuric. Also has resistance to alkalis and organic acids in both reducing and oxidising conditions.
Industrial: Acid production equipment, flue gas scrubber components, mining equipment.
Marine: Offshore industry, pumps, shafts and fasteners.
Aerospace: Aircraft engine components.

A German forging specification for Nickel 625. The alloy has outstanding strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperature to 2000F (1093C). Type 625 alloy also has exceptional fatigue resistance.Nickel 625 alloy's properties make it an excellent choice for sea-water applications, including freedom from local attack (pitting and crevice corrosion), high corrosion-fatigue strength, high tensile strength, and resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. The alloy can also be speicified to ASTM B 446 UNS NO 06625,ASME SB 446, ASTM B564,ASME SB 564, SAE AMS 5666, EN 10302, , DIN 17752 WN 2.4825, BS 3076 NA21, ASME Code Case 1935, ISO 9723, ISO 9725, VdTV 499 and UNS NO 6625.
