Applications

Typical applications for the AMS4880 nickel aluminium bronze material include bushes and bearings for landing gears. Retractable spherical bearings for landing gear assemblies. The material can also be used in wider applications that require wear and anti-galling properties such as slide plates, tube bending dies, gear wheels and cogs.

AMS4880 is particularly suited to relatively low frequency, high load bearing applications.

AMS4880

Nickel Aluminum Bronze
CuAl10Ni5Fe4

A cast American nickel aluminium bronze where its unique combined properties of high strength, good fatigue, excellent corrosion resistance, and wear properties makes it a popular choice for aerospace applications.

AMS 4880 has very high anti-galling properties when running against most grades of steels and Titanium. AMS 4880 is used on a world basis for aerospace landing gear bushes and bearings where its strength, fatigue, wear properties, shock resistance and corrosion resistance are well proven over many decades.

This specification allows for sand castings, centrifugal and continuous casting, with continuous casting presenting the optimal combination of quality and efficiency.
