SAE 65c

The Bronze Alloy of choice for worm gears is SAE65 High Tin Bronze. This has been the predominant bronze alloy for gear manufacturing throughout the 20th century, and continues to be widely used today. Strengthened by the presence of Tin, SAE 65 has many comparable national material specifications (see right).
