A nickel-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum and niobium which greatly enhance the properties of the face-centred cubic structure.
The alloy has outstanding resistance to all types of sea water corrosion including pitting, crevice and impingement. It also has resistance to corrosion by mineral acids such as nitric, phosphorus, hydrochloric and sulphuric. Also has resistance to alkalis and organic acids in both reducing and oxidising conditions.
Industrial: Acid production equipment, flue gas scrubber components, mining equipment.
Marine: Offshore industry, pumps, shafts and fasteners.
Aerospace: Aircraft engine components.

An American specification for Nickel 625 which is an austenitic nickel-based superalloy possessing excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion over a broad range of corrosive conditions, including jet engine environments and in many other aerospace and chemical process applications. The alloy has outstanding strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperature to 2000°F (1093°C). Type 625 alloy also has exceptional fatigue resistance. It derives its strength from the solid solution strengthening effects of molybdenum and columbium on the nickel-chromium matrix. Although the alloy was developed for high temperature strength, its highly alloyed composition provides a high level of general corrosion resistance to a wide range of oxidizing and non-oxidizing environments. The alloy can also be manufactured to, ASME SB 446,ASTM B564,ASME SB 564, EN 10302, DIN 17754 WN 2.4825, SAE AMS 5666, DIN 17752 WN 2.4825, BS 3076 NA21, ASME Code Case 1935, ISO 9723, ISO 9725, VdTÜV 499 and UNS NO 6625.
